Musical Theatre Instructor(s) – Community Courses



Work Term: Contract, Saturdays starting in September
The Living Arts Centre is seeking a creative, dynamic, and talented individual to instruct Musical Theatre and Drama classes to children and youth as part of the Living Arts Centre’s Community Courses program. The ideal candidate has program development experience in this area and will follow guidelines developed by the Studio Arts department to create, safe, encouraging, and creative learning environments for program participants. Qualifications:
  • Post secondary diploma, degree or equivalent in musical theatre, arts education, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years experience teaching children and/or adults in an educational or recreational setting
  • Program and lesson plan development experience is required
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated group management techniques
  • Proven customer service and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • First aid training is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Develop and create scripts and lesson plans for IN THE SPOTLIGHT: MUSICAL THEATRE FOR CHILDREN (ages 9-12), MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 13-17), and DRAMA FOR KIDS (ages 6-9) Community Courses
  • Oversee final Musical Theatre performance in professional theatre
  • Deliver performing arts based activities in a manner appropriate to the audience
  • Material set up and clean up
  • Represent the Living Arts Centre with adept customer service
  • Work within the policies and procedures set out by the Centre

Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Record Search and Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the Living Arts Centre.

The ideal candidate has program development experience in this area and will follow guidelines developed by the Studio Arts department to create, safe, encouraging, and creative learning environments for program participants.   • Prepare and deliver lesson plans for ART STUDIO (ages 4-5), ART EXPLORERS (ages 6-9), and ART ZONE (ages 10-12) Community Courses
  • Deliver art based activities in a manner appropriate to the audience
  • Material set up and clean up
  • Work with groups up to 25 participants
  • Represent the Living Arts Centre with adept customer service
  • Work within the policies and procedures set out by the Centre
