What will I do?
A volunteers will:- Participate in a mandatory training program including orientation to the facility, policy review, and training specific to the program
- Assist the program staff team with program delivery, set-up, and clean-up of program materials
- Work hard to create the best experience possible for the Centre's participants and patrons
- Be a representative of the Living Arts Centre to parents, participants, and the general public
- Be a positive role model
What do I get?
After completion of your service term volunteers receive:- If requested, we can provide a great reference for a job well done
- Experience working with the public; Some positions offer experience teaching and coaching young people - perfect for careers in teaching or social work
- Experience in the field of Arts and Culture
- Personal satisfaction for the knowledge that you have given back to the community of Mississauga and made a difference
- A letter indicating you have completed your Community Service Hours

- Download and print the Youth Volunteer Application
- Complete this application in its entirety and fax, mail, or submit to the Living Arts Centre. Be sure to read and fill out the second page including your signature, the signature of a parent or guardian, and the signature of a teacher or guidance counsellor who will recommend you for this position. This individual may be contacted as a reference later on in the process - make sure they are willing to do this
- All applicants will be contacted after we have received your application to discuss your interest and the opportunities available
- Selected candidates will be interviewed for available positions
- A Criminal Record Search (Volunteer), Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the Living Arts Centre, will be required of the successful volunteer candidate applying to the positions of either Camp Assistant or Community Course Assistant.
How do I apply
Camp Assistant
March Break: 40 hours (one week) - December 15th 2009
Summer: 80 hours (two weeks) - April 1st 2010
Community Course Assistant
Winter: 32 hours (8 Saturdays) - November 15th
2009
Spring: 32 hours (8 Saturdays) - January 15th 2010
Fall: 32 hours (8 Saturdays) - July 15th 2010
